Most people who don’t live in Montana don’t know that Montana has absolutely stunning fall colors! One of my favorite things about the Montana fall is the Tamarack tree, a tree that looks like a pine tree but in the fall turns beautiful vibrant yellow and orange, an absolute stunning backdrop for family photos.*  The Swan Valley outside of Bigfork has a lot of Tamaracks and I was so excited that the timing worked out to do this family session down the Swan in October to take advantage of those fall colors.  There was some fog coming off of Swan Lake but it blew off shortly and the skies opened up to a bluebird sunny day. And seriously. That little fox!

*Sidenote, when my husband (who grew up in Wyoming) first saw the Tamarack turn color in the fall he thought they were pine trees that had a disease! Not very romantic I know, but hilarious nonetheless!
